Summary :

We report on the “PEAU’se dermatologique” meeting of February 10, 2017, which was organized by the Department of dermatology of the Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc and addressed the problem of hirsutism, along with the indications of laser hair removal. The speakers were Professor Dominique Maiter, head of the Department of endocrinology of the Cliniques Saint-Luc, and Doctor Diane Declaye, MACCS in Dermatology.

What is already known about the topic?

Hirsutism is a common symptom for which many young women are reluctant to consult. In addition to being a health problem, it also represents a major psychosocial problem. Patients should thus be encouraged to consult and be put at ease: Simply talking about this problem requires an effort from them. This article describes the various etiologies to be searched for and the appropriate medical treatments, without forgetting the useful combination with cosmetic treatments.
